GENETIC VARIATION IN NATURAL KAZDAĞI FIR (Abies equi-trojani Aschers et. Sint.) POPULATIONS SAMPLED FROM KAZDAĞLARI
VELİOĞLU, E., ÇİÇEK, F., KAYA, Z., ÇENGEL, B

To investigate magnitude and pattern of genetic variation in 4 Kazdağı fir natural populations, seeds of 126 families were studied for their seedling traits.

The component of total variation attributed to the families within populations was greater than that of populations. The highest estimated heritability values were survival and total diameter growth for 1997.

As a result of analyses, Çan was detected as the most distant population among others. The highest genetic distance was detected between Çan and Kapıdağ populations. In addition, genetic and phenotypic correlation between seedling traits was generally in the same direction in sign and genotypic correlation was stronger.

It is recommended that Gene Management Zone - GMZ for Kazdağı fir should be located in Çan and Gürgendağ.

Keywords: Abies equi-trojani, genetic variation, heritability, GMZ.
