The Ecology of Beech (Fagus orientalis Lipsky) Forests and 
Their Regioning in Terms of  Seed Transfer 

      Oriental beech (Fagus orientalis L.) forests grow on the slopes facing north of the Northern Anatolian Mountains, Istranca Mountains in Thrace and on the high slopes of the backward section of the mountains extending along the southern section of Kelkit Valley and Kastamonu Plateau. The northern slopes of the Kapı-Kara Mountain, Ulu-Domoniç Mountains and Kaz Mountains are the main growing areas of the oriental beech. In addition to this, Fagus orientalis forests  also  found as a small cluster on the northern slopes of Şaphane and Murat Mountains in Aegean region. Central Anatolian Mountains  and Amanos mountains in the two geographical regions of Turkey named “Black Sea and Marmara” are divided into three region in terms of regioning of seed transfer or ecological properties: 1- Blacksea region (Northern Anatolia and North of Thrace), 2- Backward region of Blacksea, and 3- Marmara region. These regions are also divided into subregion 11,10, and 9, respectively. The oriental beech forests of the Mediterranean region considering relic communities is classified as a region and a subregion.
